Reveta Franklin Bowers
Reveta Franklin Bowers was born and educated in Los Angeles, California. She retired June 30, 2016 as the Head of School at the Center for Early Education in Los Angeles, where she served as the Head of School for 40 years. She attended the University of Southern California and received her Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and a Master's degree in Developmental Psychology as well as three teaching credentials. In 1995 Reveta was a Klingenstein Fellow at Columbia University Teachers College in New York.
Reveta was an outside director of The Walt Disney Company from 1993-2003. She has served as Board Chair of The Fulfillment Fund, The California Association of Independent Schools, The Educational Records Bureau, and The California Community Foundation. She served on the Klingenstein Center Advisory Board at Columbia University, on the boards of the Coalition for Justice, as treasurer of The National Association of Independent Schools, as a former trustee at Harvard-Westlake, Brentwood and Windward Schools and on the Board of Overseers of theUCLA Health Care Systems for three years.
Currently Reveta is national Chair of The Common Sense Media Board of Directors and Chair of the Board of Councilors of the Rossier Graduate School of Education at USC. Reveta also currently serves on the boards of Teachers College, Columbia University, The Stepping Stones Fund, The Fedco Foundation, The EE Ford Foundation, The Los Angeles Philharmonic, as a Corporate Outside Director of Activision Blizzard.
Upon her retirement from The Center for Early Education, Reveta Bowers began coaching institutional leaders and consulting with for-profits, colleges, school boards and non-profit organizations on issues of Governance and Governance Best Practices.
